Whew! What a busy week in first grade. We spent today filling our brains with information about Dr. King. Your first grader should be able to tell you many facts about this important leader in our nation's history. Be sure to ask your child to teach you something interesting about Dr. King. They are bringing home many projects and mini books we made to help them remember some interesting facts. Have them tell you about Rosa Parks and what her impact was on Dr. King.
We focused on 2 fancy pants words today: "peaceful" and "mercy". Ask your child to tell you what each of these words means. We made handprint doves to represent Dr. King's mission for peace. Come on by our room and check out our peaceful display.
Today was Power Half-Hour and ALL of our class family was able to participate! Yippee! I am so proud of my first graders for getting their homework completed and returned in time. Way to go!
Many of you had a hard time completing the reading homework this week. I am so sorry that I am unable to send our reading books home. Please remember that you can access our weekly stories by logging into ThinkCentral.com. The directions to log on and find the week's story are located at the bottom sidebar of this webpage. Thank you so much to all of you for helping your child complete their reading homework on time, too!
Looking ahead, please remember:
1. NO SCHOOL Monday January 16
2. Friday January 27, First grade movie night
3. Monday January 30, 100th Day of School
Be sure to read each day over this long weekend with your first grader! Enjoy your time together while you celebrate the greatness of Dr. King.
See you next week!
